Based on a true story, SOKOL is an epic drama of both historical significance and modern news headlines.  The past becomes prologue as history repeats itself with Russian aggression bringing devastation and suffering to multiple generations of Ukrainians.

The story opens with Ganna, an older Ukrainian woman forced to flee her Kyiv home in 2022 to escape Russian bombing.  Ganna inevitably reflects on the plight of her father Pavlo Sokol who at 18 y.o. was sent to Siberia by Bolsheviks for refusing to give up his land and property to the Soviet collective farms.  Memories of Pavlo’s resilience and spirit give Ganna the courage to persevere while resisting Russian invasion.  

Despite overwhelming odds, as a “Sokol” or “phoenix” in Ukrainian, Ganna and her family have the determination and strength to rise out of the ashes again and again – both in history and today!
